ISO 11611:2015 specifies minimum basic safety requirements and test methods for protective clothing during welding and allied processes with comparable risks.
The protective clothing is intended to protect the wearer against small splashes of molten material, short contact time with flame, radiant heat from ARC, the clothing minimizes the possibility of electrical shock by short accidental contact with live electrical conductors up to 100 V d.c. voltage.

The following parameters are used:

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING FOR USE IN WELDING AND ALLIED PROCESSES.

The fabric has been tested by EN ISO 11611:2007 standards for a number of qualities including : LIMITED FLAME SPREAD, HEAT TRANSFER. IMPACT OF MOLTEN METAL SPLASHES

Class 1 : protects against less hazardous welding techniques and situations, which produce less spatter and radiant heat.

Class 2: protects against more hazardous welding techniques and situations, which produce more spatter and radiant heat.

A indicates that the garment meets the requirements for limited flame spread.

A1 — surface ignition method,

A2 — edge ignition method.

A1 + A2 — both methods.
